Putting your foot down works

Today Chen Fong the head of it all flew back from australia because he heard we had started a "riot" as he put it to try to lighten the mood and he was great. we said the two thing we will not compromise on are refusing to do 5 full days a week teaching and refusing the medical exam....as we found out the medical exam has to be done to all educators by law! so they have found a hospital that will do it all minus the body inspection...we agreed to that as long as we saw the needles that we need come out of a packet.

Because the medical was meant to be today we had a few hours to kill before going to visit the headmaster of the kindergarten so we took the two boys (our lovely tour guides that know the city about as well as us) to a technology market and I bought a web cam and microphone for Skype.

Visiting the Kindergarten left us all with mixed emotions...the kids are gorgeous but we realised it is going to be an absolutly massive and full on job. I am expected to teach 8 half hour lessons a day visiting every classroom to classes ranging from 3 to 6 years old like a specialist english teacher, so have to plan every night lessons for children who cant speak a word of english to children that can sing along to songs and tell me where they live etc. I have NO idea how I'm going to get it done because I also found out it will just be me in the classroom alot of the time and no chinese people! we sat in on half an hour of a phillipino man who was the other english teacher at the other kindergarten and was blown away by what they expect! he had a GREAT voice and was an absolute genius on the gutair hahaha so I'm dreading the first time any of them hear me sing!!!

I've started catching the subway and buses by myself which is really easy if I have maps of where I live and need to go but its just so massive.

The maid has arrived now from being on holidays, very nice but not a word of english...the two guys who take us around are hilarous and your typical funny asians and I have started a book of chinese words that I ask them how to say before writing them down. The word I was most interested in was how to say its very good and delicious because they feed you sooooooooo much you say your full but they think you dont like it! (its hung how chu! very good delicious) haha

Here are some photo's of my community and my apartment. My room is on the second floor to the right of the door (above the minni mouse picture)

The dinner's are amazing!
